French painter Marchand was a "salon cubist" and friends with Roger Fry and the wider Bloomsbury circle.
He was collected especially by Samuel Courtauld and as well as exhibiting widely in France was shown in the UK at the Manet and Post-Impressionism show organised by Roger Fry at Grafton Galleries together with other shows at the same gallery.
